每個老行業都有屬於自己的故事，了解台灣的老行業，等於走了一趟台灣經濟的發展。由一座九十二年老房子蛻變的台北故事館，開館三週年的特展，將以22位台灣藝術家的創作來呈現台灣的老行業，並與最具代表性的高科技產業台灣積體電路製造股份有限公司一起向這些老行業致敬。更難得的是與新竹市政府合作，透過特展巡迴串聯新竹地區的古蹟—新竹市役所，擴大古蹟再利用的意義。
特展中將回顧五、六○年代的老行業，有隨著時代的變遷逐漸沒落，或已成絕響，或者今日仍為人津津樂道的行業，我們透過藝術家們的創作為現代注入一股新的復古風潮，也為今日的經濟發展找到源頭。
Through the inspiring works of 22 Taiwan artists, 92-year old heritage site Taipei Story House and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited, representing the high-tech industry, salute the businesses from Taiwan's old economy, paying special tribute to their important role in the daily lives of our ancestors. In this present age of automation and technology, let us remember with affection the loving hands of old craftsmen and their skills which have now become faded memories. We are grateful to the Hsinchu City Government for hosting this exhibition in a Hsinchu heritage site, giving special meaning to collaboration among Taiwan’s heritage sites.
